FRIGHTWIG

Frightwig originated as an all-female American band from San Francisco, California. Deanna Ashley and Mia Levin formed Frightwig in 1982. After many years and many line-up changes; 1994 saw Frightwig retire from the stage to raise their children and focus on other career paths. Frightwig came out from a long hibernation in 2012 and started playing together again. The current line-up is Deanna Ashley/Mitchell, Mia Levin/d’Bruzzi, Cecilia Kuhn, Rebecca Tucker/Sevrin and Eric Dew Feldman. Rachel Thoele performed with Frightwig in the fall of 2012.

Frightwig received a lot of attention for being female. Frightwig rose to the occasion and defended their right to be on stage with the men. Frightwig stood up to the catcalls and turned it into a stage show. On “A Man’s Gotta Do, What A Man’s Gotta Do”, Frightwig invited men unto the stage to strip. It was all in good fun, a sexist turnaround.

In San Francisco Frightwig played at every venue in town. From the Valencia Street Tool and Die to The Fillmore. Frightwig was at home at The Mabuhay Gardens and eventually upstairs at The On Broadway. Frightwig played many shows at The Farm. Frightwig toured coast to coast in the United States for over ten years. Frightwig toured British Columbia many times. Frightwig toured Europe in the fall of 1985 opening for D.O.A. and in 1994 for a spring Swiss tour. Frightwig toured with Flipper, The Butthole Surfers, D.O.A., Snakefinger, GBH, Redd Kross and No Means No. Frightwig played with The Dead Kennedys, Sonic Youth, Lydia Lunch, L7, SWA and Bikini Kill to name a few.

Frightwig is and was composed of Deanna Ashley, Mia Levin, Cecilia Kuhn, Susan Miller, Rebecca Tucker, Tana, Rachel Thoele, Paula Fraser, Lynn Perko, Bambi Nonymous, Alistair Shanks, Anne Harney, Robert Castenada, Dana Ross and last but not least Eric Drew Feldman.

IT'S OK!
(Feat. Robert Hecker of Redd Kross)

It's OK! was founded by chameleon-voiced guitar guru Robert Hecker of Redd Kross as a means to present hundreds of unheard songs. He is abetted by long-time musical cohort, multi-octave vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, Ellen Rooney. The V-16 behind It’s OK! is the monstrous rhythm section of bassist Dennis McGarry and drummer Joey Mancaruso.

It's OK! have recorded two albums: the eponymous debut cd, It's OK, on Econoclast Recordings, and Dream, soon to be released on Moonlight Graham Records. It's OK! are currently working on their third album, Cubed, also slated for release on Moonlight Graham Records.
