Master drummer Jorge Alabê grew up in Rio de Janeiro immersed in the rich musical culture of Brazil, becoming a master in samba percussion as well as in the Afro-Brazilian religious tradition of candomblé. He is an “Alabê” connected with the oldest candomblé house established in Brazil, Casa Branca; the title of “Alabê” means that he has obtained the highest level in drumming and leading of rituals in the candomblé religion and signifies deep experience and authority. Jorge played percussion with the highest level samba groups in Rio and was the rhythm director of Minas Gerais Samba School in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He has performed in recordings with Brazilian stars Milton Nascimento and Martinho da Vila and appeared on Globo TV in Brazil during 1978–1980 on the entertainment program Brasil Pandeiro.

En Canto brings you music as rich and varied as the people and places of Brazil: forró and baião from the northeast, bossa nova and choro from Rio, and sambas from every city and town. These lively, danceable rhythms get everyone onto the dance floor, while the occasional slower tunes (such as Tom Jobim's "Falando do Amor") evoke the romantic Brazilian mood of saudade (longing). Led by Brazilian-born vocalist Adriana Giordano, this septet combines consummate musicianship with an infectious sense of fun, delighting everyone from the discriminating music aficionado to anyone who just wants to groove.

Choroloco is a Seattle based acoustic ensemble of clarinet, 7 string guitar, cavaquinho and percussion. This group has traversed the wondrous world of Brazilian music since 2008.
Choroloco's sound is inspired by the streets of Rio de Janiero, the hot deserts of Brazil's
Northeast, the salted air of Ipanema Beach and the Douglas-firs that blanket Western
Washington. Choroloco's mission is to present choro as a living tradition, drawing on its historical influences
as well as bringing our own influences to the music. This music transcends time and outshines
boundaries and Choroloco continues to share the wealth of the repertoire through workshop
presentations, performances and audience participation based jam sessions.
