Synopsis: From his jail cell in Chihuahua’s Military Hospital, Hidalgo remembers moments of his life, particularly his time as parish priest in San Felipe Torres Mochas, where he was in close contact with the lower classes and the idea of emancipation first arose, and where he translated and produced Moliere’s play Tartuffe, fell in love with Josefa Quintana, and left the priesthood for a time.
Biography: Antonio Serrano is one of the most renowned Mexican stage directors who has had tremendous success in filmmaking. He wrote and directed his stage play Sexo, Pudor y Lagrimas (Sex, Prudishness and Tears), then later directed the film version to great box office success and critical acclaim, making it one of the most successful Mexican films in history.
