2022 Puget Sound Puppetry Festival
The Puppets are coming to Renton! The Puget Sound Puppetry Festival announces its 2022 edition to be held in Renton Washington on Saturday, August 27 2022 from 12pm-8pm.
Festivities will feature family-friendly puppet performances, a drop-in puppet workshop, a screening of Heather Henson’s Handmade Puppet Dreams films, and community activities located in Downtown Renton.
All activities are free and open to the public thanks to the generosity of the Renton Municipal Arts Commission and partial funding from 4Culture.
Activities will start at 12pm centred on the Renton Ikea Performing Arts Center with a special performance of Milo the Magnificent by Alex and Olmsted.
Following the show, the festival will be offering outdoor performances. The Adventures of Basstronaut by Paper Puppet Opera followed by a drop-in make-a-puppet workshop. A 3pm performance of Professor Humbug's Extraordinary Flea Circus of 25 Highly Educated Fleas! by Professor Humbug.
At 4pm, following the outdoor events; Salmagundi! The Puppet Variety Show will appear at the Renton Ikea Performing Arts Center. Festival attendees are then invited to explore downtown Renton and enjoy dinner at one of the many local businesses following the show. Attendees will return at 7pm for the closing event, a screening of Kidscapes, which will feature short puppet films commissioned by Heather Henson’s Handmade Puppet Dreams.
The Puget Sound Puppetry Festival is dedicated to protecting the health and safety of our attendees. We have adopted the following policies to ensure everyone's safety: Masks are required inside the venue at all times by all event attendees and staff, except when actively eating or drinking where permissible. Any event ticket holder who does not comply with any COVID-related health protocol may be asked to leave the event. We appreciate your cooperation.
