Dark, magical, and surreal, Kitsune creates a sonic universe that pushes beyond the limits of traditional rock music. Their altered tunings and widely varying soundscapes craft immersive, full-spectrum experiences, drawing listeners into a strange musical world.

Founded in 2016 by Kiyan Fox, Kitsune began as an exploration of planetary energies through guitar experiments in magical intervals. Over time, the project evolved, incorporating drums, butoh dancers, and a diverse array of instrumentalists from Seattle's avant-garde and progressive music scene. The result is a sound that's neo-classical, lush, and evocative—sometimes delicate and pretty, other times dark and bombastic.

Kitsune's unique fusion of the mystical with the musical earned them a spot on the compilation "Aberrant Forms: Venerations," where they contributed a piece inspired by Venus. They've also worked with renowned figures in the industry, recording with Mel Dettmer at Soli Studios and mixing with Ken Stringfellow.

  • Alicia DeJoie - Guitars, Violin, Vocals
  • Charlie Bowlen - Electronics, Percussion
  • Jeff Jackson - Bass, Melotron
  • Kiyan Fox - Guitars, Samples
  • Lyam White - Vocals, Saxophone
  • Scott Adams - Drums

Currently, Kitsune is demoing new songs, finishing their Venus and Mars recordings, and performing live as they continue to carve out their own niche in the Seattle progressive and surreal music scene.

Jostaberry (pronounced "yostaberry") is an experimental art rock project from Bellingham composer Bruce Hamilton. The two LPs and two EPs released since 2020 have often centered around prog and psych, with influences including avant-garde, electroacoustic, noise, and jazz, often with rich harmony and unpredictable forms.

The latest version of Jostaberry is a live band that can range between a trio and sextet, with Bellingham stalwarts June Bash, Todd Smith, John Platter, Christian Casolary, and Roger Yamashita playing and changing between a variety of instruments and vocals.

"I give this a HUGE thumbs up. When I hear stuff like this, it intrigues me and I learn from it. This is one of the best of the year."  - Dereck Higgins (dereckvon on YouTube)

"...always twisted and tweaked toward the art side of the spectrum. There are various sounds represented here from fusion to King Crimson styled sounds, Beatles-like moments, things that call to mind Billy Sherwood and much more. This is an ever-changing sonic tapestry that always seems to fit together somehow. It's also always compelling, even when it gets strange."   - Music Street Journal

"Everything here sounds like it has meaning and purpose, yet the beating heart at its core is far from silent. This is music made with a purpose but anchored with emotion....if you want more of the tasty Jostaberry experience, or have yet to be initiated, dig in." - Kiko Jones (5 blog)
