About Arthuriana Fest
Told through a frame of intense personal tragedy, Camelot is deceptively romantic while packing a politically relevant punch. Magpie capitalizes on this potent balance by delving deeper into the source material, discovering more legends and figures that speak to us across time. Through our unique devising process, we invite these iconic characters into the room with us, working together to craft a series of experimental new works that together with Camelot demonstrate how theatre can evolve to reflect our communities and address contemporary issues in ways that speak to all audiences.
Accessibility Notes: Neither of the plays in this festival include flashing lights or smoke/haze. Theatre Off Jackson's auditorium is accessible via an elevator if needed. The front row may have minimal interaction/attention from performers.

Camelot (Matinee)
Sat, May 31 at 2pm
Lerner & Loewe's Camelot in Concert
At first shatteringly relevant in the wake of the Kennedy assassination, Camelot is once again an immediate and familiar story for generations who have watched the rise of dark powers after moments of great hope for change. The beloved classic is a tale of deep love and epic loss, unwavering trust and unimaginable betrayal - wrapped up in one of the most beautiful Golden Age scores by the legendary Lerner and Loewe.
This small cast edition features an intimate and magical reworking of the original script by David Lee, staged as one of Magpie's signature "musical in concert...with a twist" performances.
Content Notes: contains staged violence and some mature themes. Recommended for ages 10+
A Magpie Artists' Ensemble & Theatre Off Jackson co-production
Directed by James T. Washburn
Music Direction by Kyle Morrow
Arthuriana (Evening)
Sat, May 31 at 7pm
A Devised Companion to Camelot
Taking inspiration from legends like The Fisher King and The Lady of Shalott, the Magpie Ensemble explores the rich Arthurian tradition - delving into centuries of subtext and reimagining an ancient canon to tell fresh yet timeless tales that speak to modern Queer audiences.
