Inspired by the BRAVO show, Inside the Actors’ Studio, Deaf Spotlight is thrilled to introduce a new interview series, Behind the Scenes.

Over the next year Deaf Spotlight will bring three Deaf actors/performing artists to Seattle for an interview on stage, preceded by a short performance piece. Consider this a rare opportunity to listen and learn from a first-person point of view of how Deaf performing artists attained success, how they think as artists, their connection to Deaf culture, and their use of American Sign Language in performances.

Howie Seago will be our first guest. Howie is a native of Pacific Northwest who has excelled in theater and film for the past 30 years as an actor, playwright, director, and producer. His breakthrough role in Peter Sellars’ production of Ajax propelled him to worldwide stardom, and led to roles in many films and television shows, including Star Trek: The Next Generation. Currently, Howie is part of the theater ensemble at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, acting in such diverse plays as To Kill a Mockingbird, Music Man, and Hamlet. To find more about Howie’s impressive career, please join us on Saturday, November 17, 2012.
