With chops so hot, Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen were named IBMA’s 2016 Instrumental Group of the Year for the second time, with a third nomination in 2017. Their critically acclaimed album Cold Spell earned a 2015 GRAMMY nomination for Best Bluegrass Album of the Year, yet the accolades don’t end there. Solivan, with banjoist Mike Munford, 2013 IBMA Banjo Player of the Year, award-winning guitarist Chris Luquette and bassist Jeremy Middleton, simmer a progressive bluegrass stew of infinite instrumental, vocal and songwriting skills featured once again on their new album If You Can't Stand the Heat, released January 25th, 2019. Since leaving the cold climes of Alaska for the bluegrass hotbed of Washington, D.C., Frank Solivan has built a reputation as a monster mandolinist — and become a major festival attraction with his band, Dirty Kitchen. Their respect and deep understanding of the tradition collides, live on stage, with jazz virtuosity creating an unforgettable, compelling performance. "They’re the kind of stellar musicians who get crowds on their feet while demonstrating to all the world’s wannabe bluegrass pickers how the true masters get it done." – Bluegrass Unlimited

Seattle’s own “Pickled Okra” will warm up the crowd with their quirky bluegrassy love songs. Pickled Okra (named one of Western Washington’s top Wedding bands in 2015) is in an entirely different category of Americana string band. Skirting the edges of many genres, their sound and style could be described as the love child from a pre-bluegrass Appalachian tryst with funk, reggae, rockabilly and classic rock. At the core of it all is the Pickled Okra duo: Todd and Paisley Gray, a charming well-dressed ol’ married couple. If the “brine” is their intricate (often dissonant harmonies sandwiched between Todd’s mandolin highs, and Paisley’s low bellows on the upright bass, then the okra would be the stories in their original music, which conjure thoughts of days gone by, except with modern versions of the genre’s staples; love, death, prison and trains (usually in that order). Heath Reinhard lends his virtuosic banjo playing to the mix, completing their far-from traditional bluegrass sound. They have gained recognition for delighting audiences throughout the Pacific Northwest, Montana and New England, and their recordings have attracted the attention of music industry fixtures as far away as the UK. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to be among the first to hear songs from their latest CD, to be released at this show! Todd, Paisley and Heath will perform songs from the new Pickled Okra release “2 Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” along with a few surprise guest artists, because you just never know who might step on stage at a Pickled Okra show!
